Our New Adventures!!

I can't believe it's been over 2 months since my last blog! Well, since my last blog there have been a lot of changes in our lives. And, I mean a lot!

The job opportunities of the Bakken led us here. We heard about the 'booming' of a state that used to be just a simple, beautiful farm state. Now it's still that same farm state but with lots and lots of oil rigs inbetween! After a weekend full of what seemed like endless driving, cheap food, and a whole lot of pit stops....we finally made it to North Dakota! We were blessed to be able to enjoy the first 7 days as a vacation. We stayed in a cabin at Lewis & Clark state park for a couple nights and the in a cabin at Indian Hills Resort. Both of these places were absolutely beautiful! My husband started working that following Monday for a great company! We moved into a house in Alexander, North Dakota. I only thought growing up we lived in a small town....that was until we came to Alexander. This is a no red light town. There is a bar, post office, country cookin' restaurant, a jiffy store and a park.  You can literally be in and out of town with the blink of an eye! It's a quaint little farm town, tucked in the rolling hills.

Another big change is I started homeschooling our daughter, Madison. She's in 2nd grade and we thought hard about this decision. It was something we were considering even before the move. The public schools are lacking in so many things! First and foremost by homeschooling we have the educational freedom to focus on our Christian beliefs. Christian homeschooling is where all of the subjects focus around God's word. I honestly believe this is one of the best decisions we as parents have ever made. They've taken prayer out of school, bible, but now teach evolution? I am blessed to be a stay at home mom and was going to take full advantage of it by doing this. I know everyone has their own ways and I'm not saying there's anything wrong with other mom's that don't homeschool. This is our opinion and our decision. We have all of the same subjects as a public school....Math, Reading, Science, History & Geography, Spelling & Vocab, Art and PE but we've added a Bible subject. Bible is where we dedicate all of that subject time to studying the Bible and God's word. All of the other subjects are also centered around this. I have to be honest I was pretty nervous about being both teacher and mom. But, it's been wonderful! We love the hours we dedicate everyday to school time. Some say how do you do it? Mom and Teacher? (And with a 2 year old!) My answer, time management. A planner is keeping my sanity! LoL. But really, if we need a break here and there we take them. And, being that it's a one on one learning experience we get done with in a couple hours. And, I think it's very important to have Madison involved. She is starting gymnastics and girl scouts. It is important for them to make friends and there are tons of other ways to make that happen. Church, gymnastics, groups, etc. If it's something you're considering just let me know and I can help you get started.
